The band was composed by guitarist Tom Lee and drummer Nick Babey in Christmas 2009. The original reason for forming the group was to create a Christmas album. This still hasn't happened. After attending Todd Brewer's School of Music in early 2012, the guys met guitarist Lazar Todorovic who quickly gelled with the group.
Collect Call placed third in the 2012 WRASA Kids Help Phone "Lighthouse" Talent Show in December. In January 2013, the band reached the Top 10 in the Youthink BC's Best Teen Band Contest. The band members are licensed buskers in White Rock, BC, and spend a lot of time performing acoustically at the beach.
